FAQ

Beeswax wraps

How do you clean beeswax wraps?

Rinse in cold/lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap. Rub gently with your hands or a soft dish brush and then let air dry.

How long does a beeswax wrap last?

With proper care, they last up to a year - but often even longer. When your beeswax wrap starts to feel dry or worn, you can easily re-impregnate it with new beeswax and it will get a new lease of life. We have re-impregnation kits available to order on our website.

Can beeswax wraps be used for all types of food?

Beeswax wraps are suitable for most types of food. They are commonly used for bread, fruit and vegetables. But of course they are also used to cover pots or bowls with leftovers. However, something that is best avoided is raw fish and raw meat. It is also good to avoid hot dishes, straight from the stove. The heat can cause the beeswax to melt.

My new beeswax wraps are so stiff and I can't get them to stick, what should I do?

We do not use imported oil in our beeswax wraps. Only beeswax and pine resin, which is why they are a little stiffer at first. Soften the beeswax wrap by unfolding and folding a few times until you hear the sticky sound. Then they stick perfectly.

Customer reviews about Gotland Originals

Why beeswax instead of plastic?

Plastic wrap and disposable products are practical, but far from sustainable. Beeswax wraps are a natural and reusable alternative, free from plastic and chemicals. They keep food fresh longer and can be used over and over again, and re-impregnated for extra longevity.

Made from GOTS and OEKO-TEX certified cotton, Swedish beeswax approved for contact with food and pine resin, our beeswax wraps are both sustainable and practical for everyday use. They are perfect for bread, cheese, fruit, vegetables, and leftovers, and can be shaped to fit snugly around bowls and containers.

By using beeswax wraps, you can replace disposable products such as plastic wrap and plastic bags. This reduces waste, saves money, and contributes to a more sustainable lifestyle, while also making food storage both beautiful and functional.
